Cheese Country Recreational Trail

The trail is only 5 miles away and offers over 50 miles long and accessible from our hotel right off County Rd F. The trail is unique in that it provides experiences for a variety of recreational interests, including ATVs, motorcycles, horseback riding in the summer and snowmobiling and skiing in the winter. Apple River Canyon State Park

The park is only 19 miles away across the northern Illinois border, this state park is known for its limestone bluffs, deep ravines, springs and streams. Vast ages of water and erosion widened and deepened the crevices as rivers and streams cut their way through the stone offering the outdoor enthusiast space for wildlife watching, picnics, camping and hiking.

Pecatonica River

The river runs through Darlington. A tributary of the Rock River, the Pecatonica River flows 194 miles through southwest Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. In the summer the river will come alive with birds singing, wind whistling through the trees, and shady branches arching over the river.

Riverside Park

Some of the features of Riverside Park include a new viewing platform, which looks out across the River Skerne, new trees and shrubs, improved lighting and improved walkways and cycle paths. The park is located 1.3 miles from the motel and sits alongside of the Pecatonica River.

Badger Mine and Museum

The museum is located in Shullsburg is a 15-minute drive away. Take a guided tour and experience first-hand the daily life of a 1850’s lead miner. You can marvel at the original, small side tunnels and wonder how men could work in such confined spaces.

Yellowstone Lake Park

The park is a short 12 mile drive from Darlington, Yellowstone Lake Park offers a great day for hiking, kayaking, boating, swimming, and/or picnicking. The 4,000-acre Yellowstone Wildlife Area next to Yellowstone State Park offers many additional recreation opportunities, including horse trails and a shooting range.
